Friday 7

I had one gig last friday.

This people were organizing a funds raising event and they wanted a show so they asked for a budget. She asked me to keep it low since they had not too much money to invest on live entertainment.
I told her that i would for free (am i not the sweetest thing?).
I like to 'give without expecting nothing in return' from time to time so i did it.
She was crazy about it and accepted.
After offering my services free of charge i asked how many people would there be at the party. 150 she said... Me ph34rs...:)

Anyway i get to the place and the room where i was to perform was like a huge shoe box. Rectangular arena. Lots and lots of tables and sounds and noises and people dancing. I ask for a mic stand, they give me one.

Before i start i tell the mc to ask the members of the audience who wanted to witness the show, to come forward with a chair. I was kinda alone in the dancehall. Way to far from people. Of course, no one did come closer but i knew this would be this way. She repeats the 'bring your chair' thing and this time one good fellow does come forward with a chair. A lot of them imitated the chap and my crowd was formed.

I did a good show. I was kinda 'lose' (inspite of two of my biggest enemies, large room and mic, being there) and did some nice job. I was glad with it.
I directed my performance to the first rows (made by people who brought their own chairs) but you could see that the performance trascended these guys.
The lovely thing about big crowds is hearing them roar. To me that is the sweetest thing on earth. It's like a mermaid singing. I fall in love.

The thing about the 'free' shows is that you usually don't 'feel the preassure' and that is a good thing if confidence is an issue.

After i left the woman who booked me gave me more than half the money i usually charge a show; i accepted.

Went partying with buddies afterwards.
